Lincolnshire oak

The Lincolnshire Oak was opened as a hotel in 1989. It is on the edge of Sleaford and surrounded by mature grounds and gardens which total nearly one and a half acres.

The Lincolnshire Oak, on the outskirts of the thriving market town of Sleaford, is renowned for its high quality of service and facilities, meeting the requirements of the business traveller and tourist alike. It is one of Sleaford's highest graded hotels, with 3 stars.

The original building, East House, was built in 1867 as a merchant's house on the outskirts of Sleaford. At that time it was nearly half a mile away from the edge of the thriving market town, beyond Cogglesford Mill on the Horncastle Road. It's grounds stretched to the River Slea.

During the Second World War the building was requisitioned by the Royal Air Force for use as an Officers Mess. After the war it was converted into offices until it was sympathetically extended and converted into a hotel in 1989.

In 1997 bedrooms 16,17 and 18 were created out of the original manager's accommodation. In 1998 the new "function room entrance" and toilet facilities were addded.

In February 2000 the hotel was acquired by Hoby Hotels, which has a policy of continual upgrading and refurbishment, which has included improved accessibility to the ground floor facilities and upgraded function rooms. In 2006 we refurbished The Garden Room. In early 2007 we completely updated the Oak Bar with new lighting, art and furniture. We also redecorated five bedrooms. In May 2007 we totally renovated our five generous single rooms, complete with LCD TVs, 4 foot wide beds, new oak furniture and new soft furnishings. In January 2008 we fully redecorated the Acorn Suite, our main function room.
